Commentary: On September 10, 1953, Schoonover was “starting large picture near Shawnee” of the farm of Mr. Harry C. Krause, R.D. 1, East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, a rural address not far from Bushkill. He worked on the 10th, 12th and 13th all day, as well as the afternoons of the 14th and 15th. For the 17th he wrote, “MC along . Eggs,” which probably means that he took his wife, Martha, along and the farmer gave her some eggs. On the 19th he went back to the farm with one of his art students who was visiting from Wilmington. (day books)
