Commentary: Schoonover spent vacations with his wife in Rockport, Massachusetts during the Septembers of 1959, 1960 and 1961. He documented the area with watercolor views of the Rockport harbor and interesting views around the town and by the Atlantic Ocean shore nearby. This whimsical piece features the sign on a door that reads: “THE MAN THAT LENDS TOOLS IS OUT.”
A small sketch for this watercolor is in a sketch book. For the six additional Rockport watercolors, see #2502a-e and #2503.
