| Commentary: | This illustration, intended for “Colonial Fighters at Louisbourg,” was not used. Schoonover rendered the same scene again from a slightly different angle and it was published as #31. (day books) A small sketch for this painting was found in the artist’s studio with the following note in Schoonover’s hand, “These sketches made by Howard Pyle as a directive for the young artist – FES.–“
