| Commentary: | A note to John Schoonover from the current owner reveals:
“It is a portrait of either Albert or Robert Porter. …the Porters were neighbors of your grandfather [Frank E. Schoonover]. …I believe the painting may be of Robert because he would have been a young man at the date of the painting…Albert Porter was my great-uncle by marriage and this picture hung in his and my great-aunt Mildred’s house. It passed to my mother, Virginia Howell Craven, and then to me.” |
