Commentary: This work was commissioned by Irenee duPont for the American Liberty League and reproduced as a Delaware Heritage Commission poster. Later, the words “American Liberty League” were painted out. During the months following the September 11, 2001 attack on the United States, this was the only painting hung in a special room of remembrance assembled in the Delaware Art Museum in Wilmington, Delaware. See #2067s for sketch.

Provenance: Commissioned by Irenee duPont for the American Liberty League [1934]; Delaware Art Museum, Wilmington, Delaware. Gift of the Bank of Delaware
