Commentary: Faced with a deadline from Outing Magazine, Schoonover found himself without enough time to finish this painting. He solicited the expertise of N.C. Wyeth who worked in the adjoining studio at 1616 North Rodney Street in Wilmington, Delaware. N.C. helped him finish the sky in time for the shipment to the publisher. Not wanting to take all of the credit, Schoonover signed it in the lower left: “Schoonover – Co. / 1906.”
