Commentary: Schoonover’s daughter had a pet duck named ‘Runty’ when she was a small girl. Sadly, the duck was killed by a weasel. In honor of her pet, the artist gave her this painting which was probably a study for the cover illustration #1028. (archives)
Provenance: Given by artist to Elizabeth Schoonover; Museum of Fine Arts, St. Petersburg, Florida. Gift of Elizabeth Schoonover Cobb [1993]
