Commentary: In good weather, Schoonover often held his adult classes during the week in various places around Wilmington. Sometimes he painted a landscape from the location as well, which is the case with this painting. In the distance is Pea Patch Island off the Delaware River shore at Delaware City south of New Castle, Delaware.
